This is the first time I’ve done this, or should I say remembered to do this, that’s a bit more accurate.
This was also the first brief where my laptop came back from the dead, so doing my work was far easier, and motivation was back - something I hadn’t had for a while I must admit.
Main jist of my work was that it was a mock-based advertising targeted at fast food chains such as McDonalds, KFC, and Burger King, and poke fun at their “honesty is the best policy” rubbish they put out. While they keep saying that their meat is 100% British, their process of making their burgers make you feel rather ill (see ‘Super Size Me’, great documentary)
so, I thought I’d say the truth via braille, but the trick was that the braille itself couldn’t be read by the blind as it’s not embossed, and those who can see wont be able to understand unless they’ve learned the braille alphabet. It’s a bit of a double edged sword, but makes you wonder.
I couldn’t attend the crit as I had to dash home, but I’ve been really into this project, and I hope that carries over to the essay and the big official project next month. exciting times ahead.
Since the weekend (my birthday damn it!) I’ve caught some sort of cold that’s been going around making everyone miserable and also making them sound like an 80 year old smoker. Fun times…
As frustrating as it is being ill I’ve been doing my best to speed up the “getting better” process (no luck yet, the magic tea potion isn’t working) but also keep doing notes and work on my animation duties. The shark characters are done, I got hold of a very nostalgia-tastic play dough at Works shop, and it gives off this very cute/cartoony animation…until the very end…I just have a plan ;) but I hope to discuss it with the group (hopefully tomorrow, because I am fed up of staying in bed)
Material for the “Ship in a bathtub” animation is also here, but I need to decide which paper/card/material etc. to use, which is harder than I thought, but it gives me a chance to be creative, and that’s what all artists love isn’t it?
Over the next few days I’ll post comments on the work I’ve done thus far. I’ve been very slow updating this, so I better do it soon (while juggling essay work and portfolio, yay!)
I also run a blog http://www.blogger.com/profile/09658732425546912855 which features mostly music based posts if you’re into it, please check it out :), but if you go waaaay back to 2010 somewhere, it should state my top 10 artworks. I’d say most, if not all, of it stays true to present day.
